If you are at least 10 years old and are a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver, you can enroll in the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty course.
Academic Course
Whether it’s an enclosed system with external lights or an underwater camera that also allows you to shoot video, your PADI Instructor will explain how to choose, maintain and take care of your video equipment.
You will learn fundamental concepts such as exposure, focus, story-line and sequence. After the dive, you will learn how to edit and produce a video that captures your underwater adventures in the best possible way.
- Different types of digital cameras and lights for taking underwater photos;
- How to maintain digital cameras and headlights;
- Photographic skills and the PADI SEA method (Shoot, Check, Adjust), essential for taking high quality photos with the following simple steps;
- Underwater compositions;
- How to edit images to make them look beautiful.
- The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course will be divided into two parts:
Knowledge development (individual and classroom learning);
Two open water dives to practice acquired underwater photography skills.

Equipment you will use
Of course, you will need an underwater video camera and your basic equipment. To edit your video, you will need suitable equipment, including a computer with editing software.
