Description
The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is the most popular PADI specialty. Because ?
Because diving with enriched air gives you more non-stop time, especially on repetitive dives.
If you’re interested in staying in the water longer and getting back to diving earlier, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver.
If you are at least 12 years old and are at least a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course.
Note that, in some regions or states, the minimum age required is higher.
Academic Course
In addition to the nitrox equipment considerations, you will learn why, by diving with air that contains more oxygen and less nitrogen, you have more bottom time.
During a theoretical and practical session from two optional (or required) dives:
- You will discuss how to manage oxygen exposure.
- You will practice the analysis of the oxygen content of your cylinder.
- You will set up your dive computer with nitrox enriched air.
With the PADI Enriched Air Diver course, you may be able to earn college credit. Write to us for more information on courses like this that offer the possibility of having college credit.
Equipment you will use
Most modern dive equipment and computers can be used with enriched air, but your PADI Instructor will confirm if what you have meets the manufacturer’s recommendations and local requirements.
In any case, the cylinders must meet the standard requirements for oxygen and be dedicated to use with enriched air.
You will practice the use of oxygen analyzers and special decals for cylinders.
The Underwater Academy staff will show you any other equipment you might need for enriched air dives.
