Use of Equipment during Courses

Freediving:

For all apnea courses at Underwater Academy, the student will not be provided with a wetsuit. However, for 1st Level experiences, courses, and trainings, the following equipment may be required:

  • Mask
  • Snorkel
  • Fins
  • Weight belt

For all apnea courses beyond the first level, the student must have their own equipment.

Freediving Training:

Participants in freediving training must have their own personal equipment.

Mermaid:

For all Mermaid swimming courses, including the tail and monofin, they must be personally owned. You can order and purchase the tail at the time of course enrollment.

For the training, orientation, and basic Mermaid swimming courses at Underwater Academy, a teaching polymer monofin will be provided for the activities.

However, for all subsequent courses, both the tail and monofin must be personally owned.

Mermaid Training:

Participants in mermaid training must have their own personal equipment.

Scuba Diving Courses:

For all scuba diving courses up to and including the Open Water Diver level, technical equipment is included in the published price.

During the course activities, the following equipment will be provided on a loan basis, free of charge:

  • Cylinder and refills
  • Mask and snorkel
  • Regulator set
  • BCD (Buoyancy Control Device)
  • Weight belt

In the event that a wetsuit is required during the course activities, the Underwater Academy Center will not provide the wetsuit for hygiene reasons. Each participant is required to have their own wetsuit if possible, or they can request rental 48 hours before the start of the lesson.
