Course Location
Malta and Gozo represent the beating heart of freediving in the Mediterranean Sea. Our islands offer spectacular seabed with breathtaking visibility. Thanks to the coastal morphology, we always find sheltered sites perfect for every level. Underwater Academy will guide you to discover caves and wrecks unique in the world. The local climate allows for enjoyable diving throughout most of the year. In addition, simplified logistics make transfers between dive sites quick. Choosing this archipelago means living a training experience immersed in an endless blue.
Required Prerequisites
• Be at least 15 years old.
• Have adequate swimming skills certified through the completion of practical tests.
• Be in good physical health documented through the PADI medical form.
• Have successfully completed the theoretical part of self-study
What the Participant Will Learn
At this stage of your training, you will acquire the skills needed to descend safely to depth. You will learn how to correctly use lift bags to manage the recovery of objects at sea. You will also study advanced safety procedures to assist a buddy during a dive. Thanks to targeted exercises, you will significantly improve your equalization technique and hydrodynamics. Finally, you will learn how to plan freediving sessions while respecting environmental and physical standards.
Certification and Exams
At the end of the program, you will obtain the international PADI Freediver certification. This certification confirms your ability to dive independently with a qualified buddy. To achieve this goal, you will need to pass a theoretical exam and several in-water tests. Instructors will continuously assess your progress to ensure maximum competence.
What Is Included
We want your experience to be flawless, so we include the weight belt and the necessary weights. However, we strongly recommend investing in your own equipment for an ideal fit. Freediving requires highly personal gear that must perfectly adapt to your unique physiology. If you are missing any equipment, do not worry: you can easily rent it from Underwater Academy. The PADI digital learning materials are included and will be available on your preferred device. This way, you will have all the support you need to study wherever and whenever you want.
