Course Location
Malta and Gozo offer an unmatched underwater setting in the heart of the Mediterranean. The crystal-clear waters of the archipelago guarantee exceptional visibility throughout the entire year. You will find ideal depths just a few meters from the shore, making every training session extremely effective. The caves of Gozo and the historic Maltese wrecks will provide the perfect backdrop for your descents.
In addition, the mild sea temperature allows you to focus exclusively on breathing technique. You will experience a training adventure immersed in breathtaking and unique marine landscapes. The simplified logistics of the islands will allow you to maximize the time dedicated to in-water practice.
Prerequisites
• Hold a PADI Freediver certification (or a qualifying certification from another organization).
• Be at least 15 years old.
• Provide a recent medical certificate of fitness for diving activities.
• Completion of Emergency First Response (EFR) training within the previous 24 months.
What the student will learn
The main objective is to refine equalization techniques and weight management to reach new depths. You will learn advanced safety procedures, becoming an impeccable dive buddy prepared for any situation. An integral part of the program involves the use of lift bags for recovering objects or equipment at sea. This technical skill adds significant practical value to your profile as an advanced freediver. You will also develop greater efficiency in finning and body positioning (streamlining).
Certification and exams
Upon successful completion of the theoretical and practical sessions, you will receive the prestigious international PADI Advanced Freediver certification. The training path includes a final written exam to verify full understanding of the physiological and physical principles of freediving. You will also need to demonstrate your in-water skills by meeting specific depth and time standards.
What is included
We are pleased to welcome you to our center by providing all the support necessary for your professional growth. The course fee includes a weight belt with weights. The PADI eLearning material is included and will allow you to study comfortably from home. However, we strongly recommend using your own equipment to ensure maximum comfort and optimal performance. Since freediving requires highly personal gear, a well-fitted wetsuit or mask often makes the difference. If you are missing any equipment, no problem: you can rent professional gear directly at the Underwater Academy facility.
