To fully enjoy diving at Għar Lapsi, it is essential to choose the correct thermal protection according to the season. During the summer months, from June to September, a 3 mm or 5 mm wetsuit is usually sufficient thanks to the pleasant water temperatures, while during winter and spring a 7 mm wetsuit, semi-dry suit or dry suit is strongly recommended to ensure maximum thermal comfort during longer explorations. Although the cave system is well illuminated by sunlight filtering through openings in the ceiling, the use of an underwater torch is highly recommended to admire the vivid colors of the corals and discover the small organisms hidden within the crevices. Regarding breathing gas, air is suitable for most routes, but the use of Nitrox is recommended especially for divers planning to explore deeper sections such as Black John or conduct repetitive dives, allowing safer extended bottom times.
